スウェーデンの仲良し・カリンちゃんが、なんだかすごく大切なレポートをしてくれている。でも、スウェーデン語だからよくわからない。
ともかくFacebookでシェアしたら、カリンちゃん、内容をざっくりまとめたものを英語に訳して送ってくれた。
それをさらに日本語に訳したものを、紹介します。

親愛なるカナと、お友達の皆さんへ。
特集ページのことをはるか日本まで広めてくれて、本当にありがとう。
スウェーデンは今ちょうど2つの選挙運動の最中です。
5月25日にあるのがEUの選挙、そして9月にはスウェーデン国内の地方選挙、そして地方議会と国立議会の総選挙です。
さてギリシャの｢金色の夜明け（政党名）｣の過激さからはほど遠いけれど、スウェーデンの議会の中には2010年以来、外国人嫌いの国家主義的政党があります。
このスウェーデン民主党は1990年代のネオナチ運動から派生したのですが、その経験から「スーツを着て」｢言葉を磨く｣ことを学んできました。
例えば彼らは「人種」については言及せず、代わりに「文化」という名目で話しています。
ユダヤ教に焦点を当てる代わりに｢イスラム教徒恐怖症｣に関する新事実について触れ続けています。
東ヨーロッパや中央ヨーロッパからの移住者は貧しく、社会から疎外された存在で、彼らは街頭でしばしば物乞いをしているのを見かけられます。
また生計を立てるために地下鉄の中で音楽を演奏したりしています。
そんな彼らがそういう場に出ることを禁止したいという、非常に挑発的なキャンペーンをスウェーデン民主党が始め、いま世間の注意を集めています。
そして驚くことに、ある｢美しい｣キャンペーンが国中で広がっているのです。
その背後で核をなしている考え方は、人種差別主義と憎悪に終止符を打つためのただ短命なキャンペーンというものではなく、自分自身を誇れて、肯定的で、長命であるのでムーブメント（運動）と言うべきです。
スウェーデンで地域コミュニティーといえば、地方のリーダー（商店主、聖職者、フットボール・コーチ、学校教師など）が集まって作り上げたものを指し、ここは誰もが平等な立場で歓迎されるところです。
貧しいルーマニア人やブルガリア人の路上での物乞いを禁止する挑発的なキャンペーンをスウェーデン民主党指導者が推進しようとしていることに関し、これらの小さなコミュニティーではあることを行っています。
党指導者はコミュニティーの人たちによる「暗黙の了解に基づいた行動」に遭遇しています。彼が行く先々で、彼が話しているときに、100- 400もの人々が彼に背を向けるのです。
これに関して、私たちもヨーテボリで同じ行動を取ることにしました。そして実際、私たちの何百人もがそうしました。
しかしながら左翼の過激派はこの「暗黙の了解に基づいた行動」では満足せず、党指導者を妨害するためにこの場所へやって来ました。
彼らは党指導者に卵を投げつけ、警察は広場から立ち退かせることとなり、事態は少し混乱しました。
私が帰宅して確認してみたら、メディアが伝えたのは暴力事件のことだけ。
反対の意を表すために立ち上がった私や私の隣にいた老人、若い母親たちのことなど、まったく触れられていませんでした。
私たちはデモ群集の合計人数に含まれていたに過ぎませんでした。
このようなことがあり、私は特集ページを書いたのです。
これは大博打です。
いまスウェーデンでは、人種差別主義者が作り上げた、極性化された現実認識が受け入れられています。
自分たちのコミュニティーのために、文字通りに立ち上がった「普通の人々」の前向きで平和的な行動をどう取り扱っていいのか分からなくて、スウェーデン民主党はこれを左翼の過激派の行動として片付けようとしました。
これは非常に大きな事実です。
ですから、メディアはいま起こっていることの真の姿を報道することが特に大事なのです。
メディアが人種差別主義者の世界観を受け入れれば、より多くの人々が追従するでしょう。
でもそれは、私が望むヨーテボリやスウェーデンの姿ではありません。

あの福祉国家スウェーデンでこんなことが！
と、私は思わなかった。
なぜなら、小児精神科医の石川憲彦さんのすすめで、『反転する福祉国家－オランダモデルの光と影』を読み、「先進国だからこそ」異質な者（＝仲間内の感覚を共有できないもの）を排除する力が働いてくるということは、知っていたから。

それでもやっぱり、現実にスウェーデンで「そんなこと」が起こっていることを知ったのは、すごくショックだった。
そこで立ち上がった、私よりひとまわりももっと年下の、可愛い女の子。
マドリードの大学でいつも隣の席に座って、たくさんの夢や理念を一緒に語ってきた子が、社会の流れにたいしてがんばって声をあげているのを、全力で応援したい。
そして、遠く離れたあの国でも、ナショナリズムや差別主義に抵抗するものが「コミュニティ」であり「エクストリーム（極）ではないピースフルな主張」であると、あの小さく可愛い女の子が言っているのだということを、とても重く受け止めたい。

Dear Kana and friends, Thank you so much for making the Op-Ed reach all the way to Japan In Sweden, we are right now in the middle of two electoral campaigns- the EU elections the 25th of May and then the general elections to local, regional and national parliaments in September. Although far from being as radical as Golden Dawn in Greece, we have since 2010 a xenophobic, nationalist party in Parliament. They, the Swedish Democrats, spring from a neonazy movement in the 1990, but has “put on a suit” and learnt to polish their language. For example, they don’t talk about ‘race’ but about ‘culture’. Instead of focusing (extensively) on Judaism, they keep getting involved in revelations about islamophobia. They are now at the centre of attention since they launched a very provocative campaign where they want to forbid the presence of poor and marginalized migrants from Eastern and Central Europe in the streets, a group that are often seen begging in the streets or playing music in the metro to earn their living. Now, amazingly enough, a beautiful campaign is spreading across the country, or, I should say movement because a core idea behind it is that it is NOT a short-lived campaign that will put an end to racism and hatred, but a long lived, proud and positive movement that is about what we are in favor of. Across Sweden, local communities gather local leaders such as the grocer, the priest, the football coach, a popular teacher etcetera and team up to create a local community where everyone is welcome, where everyone is welcome on equal grounds. When the party leader of the Swedish Democrats is now following up the provocative campaign of forbidding poor Romanians and Bulgarians begging in the street with a country tour, he is met by silent manifestations in those small communities. Wherever he goes, there has been anything from 100- 400 people turning their back at him while he is speaking. This was what we planned to do in Gothenburg as well. And hundreds of us did. However some more extreme/radical groups on the left did not satisfy with silent manifestations and came to the scene to disturb, throw eggs at the party leader, and in the end the police had to evacuate the square and things got a bit tumult-ish. When I got home, the media reporting was all about the violence and nothing about me, the old man next to me and the young mothers that stood their silent to show our opposition. Most medias noticed our presence only by including us int he total number of demonstrators. This is why I wrote the Op-Ed. Because that is playing for high stakes- it is accepting the polarized perception of reality that the racist build their idea on. It is extra important now as the Swedish Democrats have had real trouble handling the silent, positive and peaceful manifestations of “everyday people” literally standing up for their communities, and wanted to disregard them as extremist on the far left. Therefore, it is extra important that media gives a truthful picture of what is happening. If media accepts the worldview of the racist more people will. That is not the Sweden, nor a Gothenburg I want. from Gothenburg, for the day dressed in fresh spring and blue skies. Karin Zelano
